This was the first of many contracts the Alaska National Guard issued for bid with regard to this Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) of Kulis Air National Guard Base. To accommodate this relocation and the construction of new buildings, a completely new infrastructure system was required to support the development.
Additional impending vertical building projects were dependent on the successful completion of this project. As a result of the BRAC process, Kulis was closed in 2011 and all of the Guard functions of the base were transferred to new facilities at Elmendorf.
